Umberto was born from the vision of creating a restaurant at the heart of Pärnu that only offers genuine Italian flavours. The kind we’ve enjoyed on our travels to Italy and that our taste buds miss when we come back home. The desire to be authentic has helped Umberto find a team of people who all want to enrich the restaurant landscape of the summer capital with a selection of Italian flavours.
The processes of food preparation at Umberto are simple, but professional. For example, it only takes us two minutes to cook a pizza in the wood-burning stone oven that towers over the restaurant hall. Atmosphere is just as important as food at Umberto, as it forms a very important part of the restaurant – guests can enjoy views of the old town of Pärnu on one side of the hall and the beautiful banks of the Pärnu River on the other. The main restaurant hall with large windows has 104 seats, and there is also a private room for 20 people. Original Italy at Umberto starts from the basics, such as flour! Evari Tšetsin is a beloved chef, surfer, cold-water swimmer and father, whose life has brought him to Pärnu and who is focused on perfecting his skills in an art he loves by looking for new produce in the forests.
His handwriting in the world of cooking is filled with wisdom about plants and the courage to experiment, and he promises that Umberto will serve its guests genuine traditional Italian food.
He will put an Estonian twist on some of the dishes, because otherwise it wouldn’t be Tšetsin’s kitchen – full of playfulness and laughter!
In addition to enjoying Umberto’s food on the premises, you can also take a piece of Italy home with you. There is also a small shop hiding by the restaurant, where you can buy Italian wine, prosciutto and pesto made on the premises. “I think it’s great that when you decide to go out to eat and really like a sauce you’re served, you can also buy some to take home with you,” says the restaurant’s chef, Evari Tšetsin, when explaining the background of Umberto’s birth.
